THE TERRIBLE DAY OF THE LORD

Are You Ready for The Terrible Day of The Lord?

Have you ever seen something so terrifying that it was all you could do to stand frozen in shocked silence? The book of Revelation describes a book sealed with seven seals. Only Christ, the Lamb of God, is worthy to open it. In his vision, the Apostle John watches as each seal is opened. Finally, the seventh and last seal is opened revealing great judgments about to take place. The response of Heaven is a deafening silence. John reports, “And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour” (Revelation 8:1). Up to this point, Heaven had resounded with songs of praise to Christ the Lamb. But now, because of the incredible judgments soon to come upon wicked man, Heaven, itself, pauses in awed silence.

Many centuries before the birth of Christ, the prophet Joel described an event which is still yet to come.  “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come” (Joel 2:31). Even as you read this, all of mankind is hurtling through time toward that awesome day. God shall gather together all nations to keep this appointment. The final judge will be the Lord Jesus Christ who sacrificed His life and rose again to pay for the sins of all who call upon Him. Those who have repented of sin, and called out to Him for mercy and forgiveness, will have the blessing of eternal life with their Savior. Those who come to this appointment, without His forgiveness, will finally know why the Bible calls this appointment “the terrible day of the Lord.” Though they have never believed in such things, they will, in horror, realize that their destiny is sealed for an eternity of agony, despair and burning darkness.

What will be your destiny when the terrible day of the Lord arrives?
