BURNING DARKNESS

Burning darkness; weight of anger
from the one who says “I Am,”
stirs a cowering due to terror
from the wrath of God The Lamb.
Oh such agony of the hopeless
who cannot from torment flee
causes them to scream in anguish
throughout dark eternity.

Once in pleasure roamed these lost ones
mindless of the coming doom.
They ignored the heavy judgment
which “I Am” had said would come.
He whose presence floods all ages,
filling all eternity,
warned them, often, sending prophets
which their blindness could not see.

These whose pain shall never soften
shall continue with no hope.
Never can they be delivered
as in endless fear they grope.
Those in torment fear God’s presence.
He, the angry Lamb, is near.
Yet His presence brings no comfort;
just an ever growing fear.

He who was the only Savior
paying dearly for his sheep,
wept those grievous tears of sorrow
for those souls He didn’t reap.
Though He was the only Savior
that could ever save the lost
most could never find it in them
to be moved by His great cost.

Only God’s own sovereign mercy
planted faith in hearts once dead.
Now His chosen praise His glory
and He is their living Head.
How they love the one who saved them
and with Him caused them to sit.
On the Rock their feet are standing,
since He drew them from the pit.

But the lost know only anger,
as the Lamb His terror brings
on the wicked, while His saved ones
of His glory ever sing.

“And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” (Revelation 6:15-17).

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” (John 3:36).

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Are you saved?
