THE THOUGHT MONITOR

Our culture is rapidly losing its ability to discriminate between good and evil. We are turning away from our country’s crucial source of strength and blessing. In previous wars, we provided our soldiers with Bibles for spiritual strength. Now, some in authority restrict the Bible as offensive literature. No wonder so many of our soldiers return and never recover from PTSD. Alienated from their creator, they’re sent to war in a vulnerable condition. We’re reaping the consequences of abandoning God’s Word, the Bible.

God’s rejected Word, however, declares itself to be a powerful, thought discerner. Listen! “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). God declares that, in spite of our foolishness, His Word will successfully accomplish His purpose. “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).

Are your thoughts troubled and you don’t know why? God’s Word will show you. It will reveal to you what God is already monitoring about the thoughts of your heart. Are you hostile to the very thought of being responsible to a God you hate? Beware! Ultimately, you cannot successfully oppose Him. Oh, you may continue in your hostility until the day you die, but then you will face that Holy God for whom you have held lifelong contempt. He will be your judge!

Dear reader: Is God touching your heart? Stop “kicking against the pricks” as did Saul of old (Acts 26:14). Read God’s Word, the Bible. Search it for answers as Christ commanded (John 5:39). Desire to know Him. Seek wisdom which only He can impart. Confess your sins to Him. Ask Him to save you. God sent Himself as His own Son, Jesus Christ. Christ offered His blood as a substitutionary sacrifice for sins. He will not turn away any who repudiate their sins and turn to Him for Mercy.

Christ, and those who belong to Him, still proclaim this invitation: “…whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:17).
