THINGS THAT CAN’T SAVE YOU

Are You Trusting These Things that Can’t Save You?

GOOD WORKS:  God says that even our very best works are filthy in His sight.

Isaiah 64:6 — “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”

CHURCH:  The following Scripture speaks of powerless “forms of godliness.”  Folks cling to such forms, even as their Godless lifestyles reject the power of Christ who, alone, can save them and change their inner hearts.  Church attendance for socio-political gain is just one example of such powerless forms of godliness.

2 Timothy 3:2-5 — “For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, … heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

CLERGY:  No clergy member can take the place of Christ in Salvation.

Matthew 23:8-10 — “But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.  And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.  Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.”

OTHER RELIGIOUS SYSTEMS:  Jesus Christ is God the Son.  His name is the name of the only Savior able to reconcile sinful man to an absolutely pure and holy God.

Acts 4:10-12 – “Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, … This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Only the Lord Jesus Christ saves.  He shed His blood at Calvary to pay sin’s penalty.  He invites sinners to repent and come to Him.  He promises not to reject them when they do.

John 6:37 – “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”

Have you stopped depending on worthless efforts to earn salvation, and fled to Christ?
