THE GREAT DIVIDE

In our modern society, blurring once honored distinctions has become a priority. Pets and children have become almost equivalent. Same gender marriages are promoted. Differences between right and wrong have become hazy. Some localities, permit either gender to utilize gender specific restrooms. We are rapidly becoming a population of global, homogenous, lock step thinking, cultivated, in part, by the mass communication systems of our day.

The great King, however, has not changed. He has appointed a fateful day to divide all of humanity into two very distinct groups. “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: … Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” (Matthew 25:31 34 & 41).

Notice that all of the fuzziness is gone! The King distinguishes, sharply, between those who are His and those who are not. Those made righteous by Jesus Christ, “the Son of man,” shall be ushered into everlasting blessing. Those remaining are cursed, and sent away into everlasting torment.

Christ came as the final blood sacrifice to bear punishment for the sins of His people. He invited all to come when he said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). However, only those, into whose hearts God breathes life, will want to come. “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: …” (John 6:44). But, to all who do come, He promises forgiveness and acceptance. “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37).

Will you come now, as Christ’s sheep, or be eternally cursed in that day of the great divide?
