Are You Guilty of Sorcery and Other Sins?

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19-21)

This is obviously a very serious warning.  It is interesting to note that the Greek word translated “witchcraft,” above, is the word “pharmakeia.”  Our English word, pharmacy, is derived from this word.  In other scriptures, “pharmakeia” is translated “sorcery” and carries with it the idea of drug usage for evil purposes.

Our enemy, the devil, uses everything at his disposal to trap and destroy his targeted victims.  Such substances are available as street drugs as well as through certified medical channels.  The above Scripture tells us that those who remain trapped by such things won’t inherit the kingdom of God.  In other words, they will be among those God sends to an eternal, fiery punishment on judgment day.

Only Jesus Christ, the Savior of sinners, can forgive and deliver anyone from such judgment.  How can He do this?  He bore that judgment, Himself, as He was crucified on the cross at Calvary.  God the Father punished Him for our sins which He did not commit.

There are only two destinies to which members of humanity will be assigned, as explained in the following Scripture.

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)

You and I have all inherited a nature of flesh which is both selfish and self-destructive.  Our natural desires do not lead us to repent and forsake our sins.  The only one who can deliver us from this predicament is God, Himself, through Jesus Christ, His Son.  You must approach Him directly.  Not even your church can act as mediator.

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” (1 Timothy 2:5)

The good news is that He promises to save everyone who comes to Him seeking this salvation.

“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37)
