ETERNAL CONTRAST

Which Part of the Eternal Contrast shall You Be?

We’re all familiar with contrasts between things that differ.  Light and darkness, good and evil, pain and comfort, all exhibit such contrasts.

The Bible contrasts two very different eternal destinies.  On judgment day, God shall separate all humanity into two very different groups.  The intense contrast between their experiences shall continue forever.

Of the first group Scripture says,

“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.  And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.  And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.  And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” (Revelation 21:2-7)

No one could ever have been in the above blessed group if redemption from sin and death never occurred.  God the Son, Jesus Christ, has guaranteed the eternal blessings which this group of people shall enjoy forever.  He accomplished this by dying on the cross of Calvary to pay the necessary penalty for sin.  He rose again from the grave demonstrating His success.  He has issued an open call to all mankind to come to Him, repent of sin, and ask His forgiveness.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

The rest of mankind, who do not call upon Christ the Savior, shall experience a very different eternity.  They shall be assigned to an unending, conscious death, full of pain, agony and sorrow.

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)

Toward which of these two extremely different eternal destinies are you headed?
