WICKEDNESS LINKED TO UN-THANKFULNESS

At this time of year, when so many in this country claim to celebrate “Thanksgiving,” how can it be that such wickedness abounds? God’s Holy Word, the Bible, which so many reject today, clearly states the characteristics of what Scripture calls the last days. It says, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy… (2 Timothy 3:1-2).” Though more and more people in our society have deemed Bible truth to be out of date, God is not mocked. Whether or not you believe His Word, the fact remains that we are, indeed, facing “perilous times” just as God said we would.

The passage above links the perilous times to un-thankfulness and un-holiness. God’s Word declares that we are all sinners. Man, however, has been giving new names to those things which God calls sin. Sodomy, which God condemns, is called “an alternate lifestyle.” Murder is called “abortion.” A living human being murdered in the womb is called a “fetus” rather than a “Baby.” Having rejected the notion of sin, many have rejected God’s salvation and, as a result, cannot be thankful for it. Only those who have been saved by grace and have cried out to Jesus Christ to save them from their sins have eternal life. Hence, only these people can be thankful for this incredible and eternal gift.

As you celebrated “Thanksgiving” last week, were you thankful for Christ’s expensive sacrifice for sin? Have you called out to Him to wash you clean, or are you still one of those who remain unthankful and unholy?
