WHAT ABOUT THOSE WHO’VE NEVER HEARD?

Have You Never Heard the Good News?

Folks often resent the fact that God’s severe judgment awaits those who never ask Christ to save them from their sin.  They often ask, “How can God be fair in condemning those who’ve never even heard the Gospel?”

God’s Word, the Bible, anticipates and answers this question.  Christ, the crucified and risen Savior, had come to save His people from their sins.  Though the Apostle Paul yearned for his countrymen to trust Christ as their long awaited Messiah, many of them had rejected Him.  While considering this, Paul asked:

“But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world” (Romans 10:19).

Whose sound?  Whose words?  Paul is, here, quoting from the Psalms.  The passage he’s quoting states that God’s message of salvation has actually been declared by signs which God had created in the heavens.

“… The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.  Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.  There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.  Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.” (Psalm 19:1-4).

The wise men of old had apparently learned about God’s plan of salvation through studying God’s message in the stars.  After a long journey in search of baby Jesus, they asked wicked King Herod:

“… Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him” (Matthew 2:2).

Besides all of this, we have God’s Word, the Bible, confirming His message in the stars.  The Apostle Paul concludes:

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: …” (Romans1:18-20).

God’s Gospel has been majestically declared.  On judgment day, will any of us claim to have never heard it?
