WHERE DID YOU EAT LAST?

Where Will You Find Eternal Life?

Once upon a time, in an imaginary world I just invented, a man visited his local hamburger restaurant.  He left the restaurant as a hamburger.  When he went to a nearby opera house, he emerged as an opera singing hamburger.  Wherever he went, he acquired the characteristics of that establishment’s product.

However, this only happens in that imaginary world.  In our world, things don’t work that way.  People are what they are in spite of the places they visit.

There’ve been times I’ve asked folks if they expected to go to Heaven when they die.  They frequently answer “yes,” and continue by saying things like “I’m a Christian.  I go to church every Sunday.”  For added emphasis, they might even add, “I also go to church prayer meeting each Wednesday.”

Fellowship at a good church is good.  However, visiting a church doesn’t make one a Christian any more than visiting a hamburger joint makes one a hamburger.  Though a good church will present you with Christ’s gospel of salvation, the church itself cannot save you.  A good church will teach that,

“… all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23)

It will teach that God’s Son, Jesus Christ, died for sinners, and that, through His sacrificial death, He was,

“…delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” (Romans 4:25)

It will clearly tell you that Jesus was telling the truth when He said,

“… I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

When the final judgment comes, your church will not be there as your advocate.  Your clergy will not stand before God arguing your case.  Only if Christ’s Holy Spirit has given you Spiritual life, making you His child, will Christ, Himself, be your Advocate.

“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:” (1 John 2:1)

Those with life are those who come to Christ as Savior.

“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”(John 6:37)

Has Christ saved you, or are you relying on your frequent church visits?
