Do You Spread the Wealth?

The expression, “spreading the wealth,” has been frequently discussed in political circles. When we speak of “spreading the wealth,” two questions come to mind. First, whose wealth is to be spread? Secondly, what kind of wealth should be spread?
Many seek to increase their storehouse of physical possessions such as houses, lands, and money. Such folks are often very successful in accumulating riches only to find they have lost everything. Jesus said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark8:36). Our eternal souls are, for the time being, trapped inside our physical bodies. Therefore it is easy for us to focus on the needs of these temporary physical bodies and totally miss the importance of our eternal souls. If you die with incredible sums of money, you will leave it all behind. If you die unpardoned from your sin, the eternal lake of fire awaits you (Revelation 20:15).
The Lord Jesus Christ is the maker and owner of the entire universe. The Bible says, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” (2 Corinthians 8:9). What a magnificent example of “spreading the wealth.” With incredible love, Christ paid the redemption price for souls, to save those who call upon Him for mercy. He spread His wealth so that we could live. Those of us who know Him as Savior have the responsibility of spreading God’s wealth by presenting His Gospel of salvation to others.
Have you asked God for Salvation, from sin, based on His redeeming blood sacrifice? If so, are you spreading the wealth of Christ’s gospel to others?
