Years ago, while obtaining an advanced degree in statistics, I gave a pamphlet on Biblical creation to a fellow student. I was not aware of any Biblical belief on his part. Thus I was surprised when he said, “The theory of evolution has never made sense to me on a statistical basis.” Though the scientific community often uses statistics to disprove bad theories, many “scientists” turn a blind eye to the incredible weight of statistical evidence against their pet theory of evolution.
Even simple structures are very unlikely to occur randomly. For example, consider the first sentence in the Bible which says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Though it consists of only 54 characters, including spaces and punctuation, none would dare argue this sentence occurred randomly without intelligent design. Suppose we imagine a super monkey capable of continuously typing 1 billion characters per second on a simplified keyboard with only 26 letters, a space, and a period. If this monkey typed 54 random characters, there would be less than 1 chance in over 1.4 million trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion that this sentence would result. Even if the monkey typed for over 44 trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion years, we could only expect the sentence to occur once. That’s 4.4 x 10 to the 61st power, 44 followed by 60 zeros, or (for you math teachers) 44 novemdecillion years. Even then, it wouldn’t be an absolute certainty.
Evolutionary “scientists,” however, believe that the first “simple” building blocks of life (which are actually more complex than our simple sentence) occurred through chance combinations in a primordial pool less than a mere trillion years ago. Since then, even more complex structures are said to have evolved by chance from those building blocks. People have been jailed based on statistical evidence far less powerful than the statistical evidence against evolution. Beyond that, many of the subsystems of life require other subsystems to be present before either can survive. This essentially assures that life could not have come about without God’s intelligent design.
As created beings we are answerable to God. Though we have all sinned against Him, He sent His Son to shed His blood at Calvary in order to redeem all who cry to Him for mercy and forgiveness (Revelation 5:6-10). Have you asked Him to save you?
