RAGING WAR OF THE AGES

On Which Side of the Raging War are You?

There’s an incessant raging war between good and evil.  Scripture says,

“Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.” (3 John 1:11)

Early in creation, God created light to illustrate the difference between good and evil.

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.  And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.” (Genesis 1:3-4)

Jesus, God the Son, showed that physical light illustrates His own pure, glorious, and life-giving nature.

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

God, the source of all good, has been separating light from darkness ever since.  In the end, this separation shall be eternal, and His righteousness shall prevail.

Participants in these two camps exhibit diametrically opposed characteristics.  Works of darkness characterize all who reject Christ the Savior.

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19‑21)

Have you noticed that, in modern times, those dominating our information, education, and entertainment industries are increasingly promoting works of the flesh?  However, the Holy Spirit imparts totally different characteristics to those who have been saved by Jesus Christ the Lord!

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22‑23)

Jesus Christ, the Lord, died on the cross and rose again to save His people from their sins.  They’re not saved by their works, but their works reveal the Holy Spirit’s presence within.

The massacre at Sutherland Springs, Texas, vividly demonstrated this contrast between light and darkness.  In the end, those without Christ will be the eternal losers.

Has Christ drawn you to seek His forgiveness and purity in this raging war of the ages?
