ON THE EVE OF HIS COMING

Do you await His coming?

‘Twas the eve of His coming and all through the land
all talk of the Savior was pretty much banned.
Though a red-suited man was often discussed,
those who truly loved Jesus were quite often cussed.

Some sleepless children are guarding the tree
in hopes that the red-suited man they might see.
But what if, instead, the Lord Jesus should come
and take all His saints to their Heavenly home?

Then outside the house would arise such a sight:
the brightness of glory and brilliance of light.
The shaking house quaking from trembling ground
would be caused by a trumpet’s incredible sound.

The Lord had descended to call His bride home.
The archangel’s voice announced Jesus had come.
His followers heeded this prophesied call:
They each had been saved from the terrible fall.

First the dead in Christ rose to this sound very loud,
then were joined by Christ’s living ones high in the clouds.
These all were caught up to the Lord in the air
so, wherever He is, they will always be there.

These were the ones that knew they couldn’t earn
the love and forgiveness that most people spurn.
Only Jesus, the Christ, the pure Lamb who is God,
could purchase this mercy with His own precious blood.

These folks, saved by Jesus, had often been scorned.
Of the fact this would happen Jesus frequently warned.
He had told His disciples He’d be crucified
and that, when this took place, ‘twas for them that He died.

If they persecute Me, Jesus told them at length,
they’ll persecute you, but I’ll give you My strength.
You’ll stand firm in your faith and I’ll be your shield
and the sword of My Spirit you’ll faithfully wield.

But the rest of mankind who from Me turn away
will be cast into darkness and never see day.
They’ll weep and they’ll wail and be gnashing their teeth,
Though they honored the season with holiday wreath

So call on the Savior right now while you may,
and yearn for His coming in that earth shaking day.
Ask Him for forgiveness. In Him place your trust.
Those who don’t shall, forever, from His face be thrust.

When He comes He’ll divide all the saved from the lost.
Folks who spurn him in life will do so at great cost.
But those who trust Jesus will abide in His love.
They’ll be claimed as His own when He comes from above.

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

(1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
