Will You Receive More Punishment because of Jesus’ Birth?

Over the years, I’ve seen many different responses to the birth of Christ. Genuine Christians recognize it as the central focus of history. Old Testament prophesies foretold His coming, and faithful Israelites yearned for Messiah, Savior of sinners. At the time of His long awaited arrival, joy was expressed both in Heaven and on earth. The birth of Jesus, the Messiah, was heralded with great joy by angels, shepherds, and Wise men from the east. Even in modern times, this celebration of Christ’s birth became a time of joy, thankfulness, and gift giving celebrations. All who trust Him, as Savior, now look back with deep thankfulness to both His birth and sacrificial death.
Sadly, however, men began to worship the celebration rather than the celebrated Savior of sinners. Focus on Christ has been replaced by focus on a fictionalized Santa Claus. Santa Claus seems to have become a god-like replacement of Christ. As a result, Christ is now largely ignored by many, and, ironically, those who oppose Christianity have even turned their hostility against His imaginary replacement.
Opposition to Christ has become so pronounced that many refuse to use words containing His name. I recently attended a “holiday party.” There was no mention of Christ. There was no prayer of thanksgiving even for the refreshments provided.
Scripture promises heavy judgment upon those who so heinously reject Christ and trample Him under foot.
“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?” (Hebrews 10:26-29)
The reality of this judgment does not depend upon our belief about it. Jesus said,
“…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
Have you asked Jesus Christ, God’s virgin-born Lord and Savior, to save you from your eternal punishment?
