MIGHT MAKES RIGHT!

Has God’s Might Made Your Heart Right?

“The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head” (Psalm 110).

This song of King David prophesied Christ’s coming to save wicked people, like you and me, from sin (Matthew 22:41-46). Please notice five things it teaches.

First, when Christ came as Savior, He came to His enemies (verses 2-3) because of humanity’s fall (described in Genesis chapter 3).

Secondly, our perversion is so great, that our hostile hearts can’t follow him unless they are made willing in what this song calls “the day of thy power” (verse 3).

Thirdly, God won’t abandon His merciful mission of salvation until it’s completed (verse 4).

Fourthly, God’s insuppressible salvation will divide mankind into two groups – His people, and those who are left to perish in their wicked denial of His truth (verses 4-5).

Fifthly, though God is a God of love, the multitude will be His incorrigible enemies and will bear His eternal wrath.

“The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries” (verses 5-6).

The Lord Jesus Christ came as the blood sacrifice to purchase forgiveness of His people’s sin. Scripture teaches that all who come to Him, with a repentant heart, seeking mercy, will be saved.

Will you be one whose heart God’s “might makes right”, by His gospel power, or will you be one of the multitude who continues to reject Him and suffer the eternal consequences?
