Are You One of the Many?

Jesus repeatedly divided all of humanity into two groups. In the following statement, He describes the eternal destiny of those in each group.
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)
One group, characterized as “many,” is headed toward eternal spiritual death. The other, characterized as “few,” will receive eternal life.
One might point out that this statement is not very precise. After all: How large is “many? How small is “few?” Nevertheless, because we are comparing only two groups which, together, comprise all of humanity, a simple conclusion is possible. The group containing “many” must contain more than half of all humanity. This is because when we compare “many” with “few,” in the same context, “many” is more than “few.” This means that over half of humanity is headed toward eternal spiritual death. This unpopular conclusion is generally overlooked. When folks depart this life, their loved ones usually conclude that they are now in Heaven or “in a better place”. The other possibility is seldom even whispered.
You and I are each in one of these two groups. Are you uneasy about the fact that the majority of folks are headed toward destruction? What determines which group you are in? John the Baptist answered this question.
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)
Do you believe you are one of the few that has eternal life? If so, are you concerned about the many who don’t? Do you tell them about Jesus, the Messiah, who died on the cross and rose again to save sinners? Jesus commanded those who have eternal life, to do this.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)
The Lord places a desire to obey Him in the heart of each of His redeemed ones. Let us examine ourselves for evidence of this desire.
Do I have this evidence? Do you?
