Leaving God Brings Terrible Quagmire

In a Quagmire Separated from God?

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12)

God designed mankind and an amazing environment in which he could flourish.  He also provided benevolent instructions compatible with man’s designed characteristics.  One instruction dealt with a particular tree.  Of that tree God commanded,

“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Genesis 2:17)

Scripture next records God’s special creation of Adam’s wife, “Eve.”

“And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. … And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;  And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.  And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” (Genesis 2:18-24)

The rest is history.  In the third chapter of Genesis, we find Adam and Eve disobeying God’s command regarding the forbidden fruit.  This brought immediate spiritual death which caused Adam and Eve to reject fellowship with God.  They hid themselves from Him (Genesis 3:8).  Man became trapped in a quagmire of disobedience.  Today we observe man proudly disobeying God in many ways.  This includes flouting God’s commands regarding the proper relationship between one man and one woman.  This has brought sorrow, heartache, murders, and proliferation of many diseases resulting from forbidden intimacies.

Thankfully, God provided deliverance through the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son, God the Son, Jesus Christ.

“For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:21‑22)

Have you asked Christ to save you from the eternal death of sin’s quagmire?
