Ancient king trusted Christ

King David trusted Christ, God’s coming Messiah. Referring to Christ as God’s “Holy One,” David knew his own resurrection was guaranteed by the fact that this “Holy One” would die in his place and rise again to pay the penalty for his sins.
“I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Psalm 16:8-11).
In this passage King David shows he didn’t fear death as his eternal destiny. Such fear was unnecessary because God wouldn’t leave him dead. King David explains his reason for this confidence. God had promised that He would not allow Christ, (His “Holy One”) “to see corruption.” This was actually a promise that Christ would be raised from the dead, which, in turn, was an absolute guarantee of David’s own resurrection.
On the day of Pentecost, the apostle Peter quoted these words of King David summarizing them as follows:
“He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses” (Acts 2:31-32).
The apostle Paul explained it this way to the Christians in Corinth.
“But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming” (1 Corinthians 15:20-23).
Notice: All humanity (“all in Adam”) died when Adam and Eve fell. But all who are in Christ (all who’ve been drawn to Him and received Him as Savior) shall be made alive. Because of Christ’s resurrection, all who have trusted Christ shall have eternal life!
