Where are you going? Oh, I don’t mean where are you going next time you get into your car. I’m really asking where you plan to end up, eternally, at the end of your life.

The Bible describes two very different destinations. One of those destinations is Heaven. It is a place of blessed joy in the presence of God. In Heaven there will be no death, crying, sorrow, nor pain (Revelation 21:4). The other destination is a place of torment in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). When asked where they would like to go, most people quickly state a preference for Heaven.

Incredibly, however, even though most folks prefer the destination of blessing, Jesus made it clear that most are not on the path to that destination. Listen to His solemn words: “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it (Matthew 7:13-14).”

If most people prefer Heaven as a destination, how can it be that so few follow the proper path to get there? The primary reason is that most people are looking in all the wrong places. They neglect looking in the Bible and refuse to submit to the authority of God. This is because of the sinful heart of fallen man: “…There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God (Romans 3:11).”

The Bible, which most either neglect or reject, shows that the Lord Jesus Christ is the path to Heaven. He said, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).” He paid the huge redemption price of blood to save His people from their sins. He did this by dying a sacrificial death on the cross of Calvary. All who repent of their sins and ask Him for mercy will be forgiven and set on the right path (John 6:37-40).

Have you been one of the many, plodding along the path to destruction, or will you be one of the few that finds Christ, who is the only pathway to God the Father and eternal forgiveness?
