GRAVITY

Gravity:  Have You Been Drawn to Jesus Christ?

Have you ever thought about gravity?  Neither you nor I know how to make it, but we depend on it every day.  Gravity exists on the earth, the moon, Mars, and, as far as we know, every planet God created.  Gravity is very predictable and reliable.  It follows inviolable laws established by God.  Anyone who dares challenge gravity, by exiting an airplane without a parachute, would experience severe consequences.  That’s because God designed the law of gravity to be obeyed.

God created not only physical laws like gravity; He also created Spiritual and moral laws.  Some of these are represented in what has come to be known as “The Ten Commandments.”  Although many think these spiritual and moral laws can be ignored with impunity, this is far from true.  The first of these “Ten Commandments” deals with love for God Himself.  One day, a religious Pharisee asked Jesus the following question.

“Master, which is the great commandment in the law?” (Matthew 22:36)

Jesus replied:

“… Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40)

Scripture makes it clear that violating any part of God’s moral law makes one guilty of violating His entire law.  This violation evidences a lack of love for the true God of the Bible.

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10)

Because of Adam’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden, every person is born with a nature which rebels against God.  This is called “sin.”

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12  )

We’re all guilty!  It’s like the human race jumped out of the airplane of God’s protection.  There is only one person who can rescue any of us.  He is God the Son, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross of Calvary.  He paid the penalty of sin for all who love and call upon Him for forgiveness.  He rose from the dead on the third day and lives as an eternal protector of His people.

“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” (Hebrews 7:25)

Have you asked Christ to forgive and save you from your sin?  Do you now love Him?  Are you now under the inviolable law of eternal redemption by Christ?  If not, you are still subject to the law of eternal consequences for sin.
