Fact Chokers

Have You been Deceived by Fact Chokers?

Today, many who claim expertise at distinguishing truth from lies have actually become fact chokers.  God’s Word, the Bible, proclaims woe upon such people.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20)

Soon after creating Adam in His own image, God planted a garden in Eden.  He placed Adam in it as a caretaker.  He told him that he could eat the fruit of every tree there, except one.  Of that forbidden tree God said:

“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Genesis 2:17)

Shortly thereafter God formed a wife for Adam from his rib.  Adam called her “Eve.”

Soon, the first fact choker of history approached Eve, as a serpent, in the garden.  Though God had said “…thou shalt surely die.”  The Devil lied and said,

“…Ye shall not surely die:  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:4-5)

Both Adam and Eve responded by eating the fruit.  As God predicted, they died spiritually that very day.  The first evidence of this was that they hid from God in shame.  Where there had been sweet fellowship, they now wanted to avoid Him.  This dead spirit has been inherited by every human born since that fateful day.  Adam and Eve had listened to the fact choker rather than to God, Himself.

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12)

God had never offered forgiveness to the Devil for rebellion.  He had no obligation to do so for humans either.  But He did!  He provided an animal blood sacrifice to make skin coats for Adam and Eve.  This blood sacrifice pictured the ultimate blood sacrifice God had already ordained to save His people.  God the Son would be virgin-born as a sinless human.  He would pay the sin penalty for all who seek His forgiveness and trust in Him.  He would die on the cross, be buried, and rise again!

“But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.  For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:20-22)

Jesus said:

“I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:32)

Are you heeding fact chokers, or Christ’s call for repentance?
