DEPLORABLE CHRISTIANS

Has God’s Love Made You a Deplorable Christian?

Those who spurn God’s righteousness, hate those who love Him.  They consider Christians to be deplorable.  This is not new information.  Jesus said:

“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.  If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.  Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” (John 15:18-20)

James, the half-brother of Jesus, wrote to Christians who were “scattered abroad”.  He warned them against returning to behavior characteristic of the unsaved.

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4)

Jesus spoke to religious leaders of His day who hated him:

”Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.  Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.  And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.” (John 8:42-45)

God the Son, Jesus Christ, shed His blood and rose again.  He thereby paid sin’s penalty for all who seek and trust Him for cleansing, forgiveness, and eternal life.  A great divide exists between those who belong to Him and those who don’t.

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)

Does the world of unbelievers consider you deplorable because God has made you alive and caused you to follow Him?  If so, thank and praise Him!
