DECLARATION FROM THE HEAVENS

Do You Understand The Declaration of the Universe?

“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:” (Genesis 1:14)

God’s universe is an enormous and precise timepiece. More complex than any machine ever designed by man, it has been continuously keeping time for thousands of years.  Mankind has always safely relied upon its precision to anticipate signs, and seasons, and days, and years.

In comparison, man’s inventions are fleeting, quickly deteriorating into uselessness in spite of immense maintenance efforts.  Think about that new car you bought 20 years ago!  Man’s moderate intelligence is nothing compared to that shown by God’s great timepiece.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.  Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.  There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.” (Psalm 19:1-3)

The above Psalm reminds us that all people can observe God’s glorious universe regardless of their speech or language.  Therefore, no one has a valid excuse for denying His existence or the revelation of His redeeming work.

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” (Romans 1:20)

The entirety of Scripture unfolds God’s declaration of His majestic power, and man’s rejection of it.  This rejection of God’s authority occurred in the Garden of Eden.  Under penalty of death, God had prohibited them from eating fruit from just one particular tree.  The Devil successfully tempted them to disobey.  That sin infected all their descendents.

The Scriptures also reveal God’s gracious provision of forgiveness through the sacrificial death of God the Son, Jesus Christ.  All who recognize themselves as sinners, and ask Him for deliverance from sin, are eternally saved. (See: Acts 2:21, Romans 10:13)

Remember the wise men who came to see the newborn Messiah?  God used His star to lead them on their long journey to Bethlehem.

Some, who look at God’s heavens, think they see nothing more than lots of space junk.  When you look at the heavens, do you contemplate His invitation to seek salvation through faith in Jesus, the Messiah?
