Living Life Deceived by Death?

A person’s spirit can be dead even while the mind and body live on. Scripture speaks of such people.
“But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth” (1 Timothy 5:6).
Though this passage refers to the feminine pronoun, “she,” this dead condition applies to all mankind.
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned…” (Romans 5:12):
We’re all born dead. This absence of spiritual life renders the human heart vulnerable to deception when pondering eternal matters.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9).
Consequently, most people are deceived about their final destination.
“There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 16:25).
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).
The spirits of most will remain dead. Too late, they’ll discover the following destruction to be their final destination.
“The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 13:41-42).
“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15).
What is the solution to this dilemma? Jesus said,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).
God the Son, Jesus, offered His own life blood to pay the redemption price of granting life to His people. Those whose hearts He makes alive become burdened by their hopeless sinfulness in His sight. To them Jesus says,
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
Has Jesus rescued your repentant heart from death’s deception?
