Even Small Violations of God’s Truth are Eternally Deadly

Over the millennia, a deadly philosophy has repeatedly surfaced. That deadly philosophy claims that there is no such thing as absolute truth. This directly contradicts what God the Son, Jesus Christ said:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
The claim that there is no absolute truth is obviously false because, if that claim is absolutely true, its existence, as truth, denies its own assertion.
Your life and mine, as well as the functioning of the entire universe, depends upon absolute truth.
Only because physical laws are true, can inventions of man, and the intergalactic motions of the universe, function dependably. Consequently, deep in our hearts, most people understand that absolute truth exists. That’s why they don’t intentionally do dangerous things they know would cause certain death!
Absolute truth also exists in the spiritual realm. God told Adam and Eve,
“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Genesis 2:17)
They ate. They died, spiritually, that very day. Physical death followed years later. Death came so consistently that most people don’t even argue with the idea that death will eventually overtake them. Even so, most people think that they aren’t really spiritually dead or terribly sinful. But Christ explained His standard of righteousness. Even what some might consider “small sins” are horrendous in God’s sight. Scripture tells us:
“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10)
God will hold us accountable for the secret thoughts of our hearts, even if we don’t “act them out.” Jesus said,
“But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28)
Thus, we see that, just as infractions of physical laws cause disaster, the same is true in the spiritual realm. Furthermore, the spiritual realm has eternal consequences! The only possible rescue comes from the Lord Jesus Christ who came “… to give his life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28, Mark 10:45).
Some churches preach the truth of God’s Word. Even so, no church nor religious philosophy of any kind, can save anyone from the eternal consequences of sin. Though some religious organizations have tried to collect money to serve as mediators between God and men, Scripture reminds us that,
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” (1 Timothy 2:5)
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)
Has Christ saved you, or are you still depending on your church or some other philosophy, instead?
