COYOTES

Are Coyotes Victimizing you?

Recent news has contained many references to “coyotes.”  In contrast to animal coyotes which have roamed our rural property for years, these coyotes  are people.  These human coyotes promise to smuggle people across the border in exchange for money.  Unfortunately, the promise of safe delivery for their customers, often ends in death.  Recently, just a few miles from our home, many who paid for this service died in an eighteen wheeler.  It had been left unattended on a roadside in the hot sun with its customers locked inside.

Unfortunately, deception and false promises are not limited to coyotes who promise to deliver their customers to a desired location.  Some deceptive religious organizations make false promises to their “church” members regarding eternal spiritual matters.  Some have solicited contributions in exchange for promises of divine favor on judgment day.  Years ago, upon the death of our infant son, we received a sympathy card from friends.  That card indicated that they had paid money to a particular religious order. The payment had been made to buy prayers for our departed son’s soul.  I know our friends were well meaning in their efforts.  However, they were heinously deceived.

There is only one person who can mediate between a sinner and the Almighty God, who hates sin.  This person is God the Son, Jesus Christ.  The Bible declares, unequivocally, that He is the only mediator.

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” (1 Timothy 2:5)

“Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.  This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:10-12)

This was said by Peter, the apostle, to the religious elites of His day.  You must not place your faith in a church or other religious organization.  They cannot save you.  Instead, your faith must be placed directly in Jesus Christ.  He offered His own blood on the cross of Calvary to pay the price for deliverance from sin.  After three days and three nights, He rose from the dead.  Jesus did not tell his hearers to go to the religious leaders for salvation.  He told those who were burdened over their sin to come directly to Himself.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11 28)

Are you trusting a religious coyote for your salvation, or Jesus Christ the Savior?  He is the only “mediator” needed and available.
