CHRISTIANS PREACH THE GOSPEL

Do You Preach the Gospel?

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?  And how shall they preach, except they be sent?  as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:13-17)

This passage begins with an exquisite promise!  It guarantees the certainty of salvation to all who truly “call upon the name of the Lord.”  It then asks a series of probing questions designed to explain how this happens.

First, we find that those who call upon the Lord must first believe in Him.  In order to believe in Him, they must first hear about Him.  How can this happen?  It requires that a “preacher” be sent to tell them about Him.  Who might this preacher be?

Many think that only seminary graduates who are “ordained” preachers or pastors can fulfill this role of “preacher”.  They don’t realize that regular Christians are “preachers” also.  Actually, every single born-again Christian has been given this assignment.  This crucial role of each Christian is envisioned in Christ’s command to the eleven remaining disciples after His resurrection.

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)

All those saved by God are believers who confess Him before men and shall be present with Him in heaven.  Such “confession” includes both words and actions.

“Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 10:32)

All believers will do this!  If they don’t, they are not true believers.

“But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 10:33)

Those who falsely claim to be Christians can deny Christ by ungodly lifestyles or by silence about His work in their hearts.  But if God has really wrought such a work in our heart, we won’t remain silent about it.

Warning:  One does not receive salvation by the work of speaking about Christ.  However, if Christ has placed true faith in your heart, you will not be silent about it.

Do you present Christ, as your Savior, to others?
