Arms Required to Defeat Great Oppressor
Are You Battling the Great Oppressor?

Extraordinary circumstances occasionally drive men and women to rally under great captains against a common foe. Today there is a foe who has turned against all that is right, setting himself up as a great oppressor. Because he knows his time is short, he is full of wrath and fury seeking to take the place of God. Who is this foe? Who is he trying to destroy?
Holy Scripture says, “…Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time” (Revelation 12:12). This great oppressor seeks to destroy the souls of men. Though God has decreed that his eternal doom is sure, right now, he walks around proudly like a hungry lion. Scripture warns, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” (1 Peter 5:8)
Is there any hope? Is there a place of refuge? Is there a great captain who can lead us against this formidable foe? Yes! God’s word tells us. “For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings” (Hebrews 2:10). He came as the sinless, suffering, substitutionary, Savior of sinners. “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them” (Deuteronomy 33:27).
Christian brother or sister: God has sent Himself as His own Son. He died to save sinners from this hideous destroyer of souls. We must urge the unsaved to flee to these everlasting arms of Jesus the Savior. God promises, “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37).
Christian! Do you and I know unsaved people? Let us become more urgent in calling them to arms! We must call them to the loving and everlasting arms of Jesus.
