REPROBATION OF A  NATION

ARE YOU PROMOTING PRESERVATION OR REPROBATION OF YOUR NATION?

Reprobation is God’s rejection of those who have rejected Him.  In his letter to the Romans, the apostle Paul describes those who had rejected God’s righteous laws.  He emphatically condemns many perversions, including sodomy, which rejects God’s established order for intimate marriage relationships.  Regarding these perversions, he writes the following.

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,  Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,  Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” (Romans 1:28-32)

Many centuries before this, God had sent His prophet, Jonah, to warn the wicked city, Nineveh, of impending judgment.  As a result, Nineveh’s rulers and people repented, and God withheld His judgment.  However, over the next 150 years, Nineveh resumed its wickedness and God sent His prophet Nahum to declare the coming utter destruction of Nineveh.

“Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.  The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.  But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.  What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.” (Nahum 1:6-9)

It’s interesting to note that this prophet’s name, “Nahum,” means “comfort.”  God’s prophecy, through Nahum, was actually a comfort to many who had suffered cruel atrocities by this powerful, wicked, kingdom.  This prophecy made it clear that Nineveh would never again raise its ugly head.  Judgment would not be withheld a “second time.”  Nineveh was completely destroyed and remains so to this very day.  Is the nation in which you live like Nineveh?

On an individual level, those who reject God’s righteousness shall also suffer eternal condemnation.  Only through faith in God the Son, Jesus Christ, God’s crucified and risen Messiah, is salvation granted to any person.

Are you truly trusting, following, and obeying Jesus Christ, the only Savior, or shall God’s reprobation be your eternal end?
