HE SITTETH IN THE HEAVENS

What Shall He that Sitteth in the Heavens do with You?

“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” (Isaiah 46:9-10)

God has repeatedly declared, throughout Scripture, that everything in His eternal plan shall come to pass.  Through the millennia, God prophesied the coming of Jesus Christ, the Messiah.  He came!  In doing so, He has already fulfilled hundreds of prophecies regarding things, then future, which have now come to pass.

Yet evil people who rebel against God think they sin with impunity.  Rejecting the righteous Savior, they seek to persecute Christ’s redeemed, and establish wickedness as the only politically correct position.  Scripture describes their works as follows.

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”  (Galatians 5:19-21)

God, through the psalmist, posed the following question regarding the foolishness of the wicked.

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,  Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.”  (Psalm 2:1-3)

Having caused us to ponder this bizarre behavior of those who hate God, He then declares the certainty of His final judgment.

“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.  Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.  Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.” (Psalm 2:4-6)

God the Son, Jesus Christ, came, as prophesied, to pay the penalty and put away sin for all who believe in and follow Him.  He offered Himself in a cruel crucifixion to make this infinite payment for sin.  He rose again the third day.  He is now in heaven making intercession for those who come unto God by Him (Hebrews 7:25).  But those who reject Him and His righteousness, face eternal, unending judgment by Christ who “sitteth in the heavens.” (Psalm 2:4)

What will Christ’s certain victory mean for you?
