CORONA OF CHRIST

Corona:  Do You Worship the One Wearing It?

The word “corona”, derived from the Latin word, “coronam”, means crown.  The Italian and Spanish languages, which are derivatives of Latin, also use the word “corona” to refer to a crown.  A crown is a symbol of authority.  Kings wear crowns!

Scripture refers to Jesus Christ as “King of kings and Lord of lords” (1 Timothy 6:15).  Each year we celebrate His resurrection.  He died, wearing a crown of thorns (John 19:5).  He rose again and is now in Heaven, wearing a different crown, and interceding for His redeemed people,

“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” (Hebrews 7:25)

The Apostle John, during his view of Heaven, saw this resurrected “King of kings,” wearing a golden crown.

And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.” (Revelation 14:14)

As John continued observing, he reported an awesome and righteous judgment about to take place.

“And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Revelation 19:13-16)

The writer to the Hebrews said:

“… as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:  So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” (Hebrews 9:27-28)

Wearing a golden crown, this mighty King of kings, who rose from the dead, shall bring judgment.  Those who despise or lightly esteem His authority shall find His judgment inescapable.  Men of every station in life, both rulers and slaves, shall cower in horror seeking to hide from Him.  They shall cry out to the mountains and rocks, saying,

“… Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” (Revelation 6:16-17)

But, this mighty, risen, crowned King of kings is the living protector of His people who’ve repented of their sins.  He redeemed them with His blood, by grace through faith! (Ephesians 2:8)
