NOT ALL WHO PROFESS FAITH IN CHRIST ARE SAVED

Do You Profess Truth Regarding Your Relationship with Christ?

Christ, Himself, saves His people from their sins and causes them to profess faith in Him.  However, many profess faith without having true faith.  Some of these were described by the Lord Jesus Himself.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:21-23)

So, which of those, who profess faith in Christ, really have it, and eternal life which accompanies it?  Again, Jesus, Himself, answers this question.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:27-28)

Did you notice that those to whom Christ has given eternal life are changed people?  They not only profess faith, but follow Him in obedience.  The obedience is not the cause, but the result of a heart quickened (made alive) from the dead.  In his letter to the troubled church of Corinth, the apostle Paul wrote:

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”(2 Corinthians 5:17)

In the letter by James, in Scripture, James writes:

“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.  Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.  Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.  But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” (James 2:17-20)

Satan delights in getting people to profess faith in Christ without any intention of obeying Him.  According to Scripture, such faith is false faith.  It is nothing but “lip-service faith,” leaving one dead in sins and headed for the lake of fire.
