Has Christ Changed your Spiritually Dead Heart into a Living One?

Today, many who consider themselves “Christians” act much like the unsaved world.  Their conversion seems to have changed little about their lives.  Their attention is still largely focused on this life with little emphasis on eternal matters.  They claim to be saved, but have little interest in leading others to Christ.

Does this describe you or me?  If not, shouldn’t our love for Christ produce within us an urgent desire to tell others about our Savior?

God’s Word says that there will actually be few who find Christ’s redemptive path of salvation.

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)

This means that most of the folks we meet each day are probably unsaved.  If they pass from this life today, their entrance into a horrible eternity will begin.  Shouldn’t we, who claim to love Christ, seek to warn them?

Christ calls sinners to repentance.  However, many evangelistic appeals avoid the issue of sin.  Consequently, I fear that, today, many who pray to receive Christ remain oblivious to their need of forgiveness from sin.  Christ died for sinners!  Salvation does not exist apart from repentance for sin.  Today, much of society has rejected the very idea of sin.  But those who do this are self-deceived.  Though turning from sin is not a means of salvation, it is always a result thereof.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

God’s Word shows that many who think they are Christians will discover, too late, that they’re self-deceived.  Jesus said,

“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:22-23)

God the Son, Jesus Christ, died shedding His blood to save sinners.  Then He rose from the dead.  Has He changed your heart?
