“DANGER, WILL ROBINSON!”

Are You in Danger of Being Lost in Eternity?

Television series, “Lost in Space,” aired during the 1960s.  One “character,” a “B-9” Robot, often accompanied the young Will Robinson, roaming the planet on which they were marooned.  Equipped with special sensors, this robot often warned young Will of imminent danger by saying, “Danger, Will Robinson!”

Fallen man faces eternal danger.  Because Adam and Eve rejected God in Eden, we’re all born spiritually dead.  Consequently, unsaved people are repulsed by the true God of the Bible.  Man, therefore, invents false gods he likes better.  Some are simply emaciated versions of the true God.  Such inventions reject God’s sovereign authority and deem Him a servant like Aladdin’s genie.  Rather than serving God as Master, they evaluate Him on how He serves them.  This insidious role reversal is betrayed by questions like, “How can God allow such suffering?”  The true God, however, says,

“Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.  I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. … and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.” (Isaiah 45:22-24)

This statement is both a warning and a blessing.  It divides all of mankind into two mutually exclusive groups.  The eternal destiny of each group is spelled out in Matthew 25:31-46.

“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, … And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.” (verses 31-33)

This “Son of man” is God the Son, Jesus Christ, who died and rose again to save sinners.  The rest of this passage shows that those on the right exhibit Godly behavior.  They’ve been changed through faith in Jesus and receive the following invitation.

“…inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:” (verse 34).

However, to the rest Christ says,

“Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” (verse 41).

Have you heeded God’s warnings of eternal danger?
