NO CHURCH IS A MEDIATOR

Are You Trusting the One and Only Mediator?

If you believe your church can save you, you’re lost!  Some churches appear to dispense salvation.  Even those who don’t, may have congregants who think they can.  However, salvation comes only through Jesus Christ.  The apostle Thomas had asked Jesus to show him the way.  Jesus replied,

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

Some churches claim to be a go-between, or “mediator” between fallen man and Holy God.  However, Scripture says that Jesus Christ is the only mediator.

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;  Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.  Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.” (1 Timothy 2:5-7)

This statement by the apostle Paul makes it clear that even he was not a mediator.  He was only a preacher who told folks that only Christ Jesus is the mediator.

Some may consider their own “free will” to be a mediator between themselves and God.  It is true that all who are to be saved must trust Christ.  However, fallen man has no ability to do this without the working of God in his heart.

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.  The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:5-8)

Those who are to be saved must come to love God’s Word.  It is through The Word that God quickens (makes alive) the fallen heart of man.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:1)

Are you heeding God’s Word and trusting the crucified, risen, God the Son, or are you trusting another mediator?
