Amazing Births

Have you Experienced the Amazing Birth?

Ponder, with me, two amazing births.  One was a miraculous birth, by a virgin.  It was prophesied centuries before it happened by God’s prophet, Isaiah.

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14)

His prophesy indicated that the individual, who would be born in this manner, had already been given a name.  His name was to be called “Immanuel.”  What does “Immanuel” mean?  The apostle Matthew answers this question quite easily as he quotes this Old Testament prophesy.

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)

When the angel appeared to Mary, letting her know that she was the virgin chosen to receive this great honor, she asked the angel how it was possible for her to have a baby since she had never been with a man in the manner necessary for conception.  The angel answered her directly.

“And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35)

A short time later, the angel appeared to Joseph, her espoused husband.  Since he was puzzled about Mary’s condition, the angel told him the following.

“…And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)

Thus, we see that God made it absolutely clear that Jesus, the Messiah, is God!

Jesus’ amazing birth provided another amazing birth for each who trusts Him as Savior.  His birth brought Him into the world to take the punishment for His peoples’ sins.  Each who, in repentance, asks Christ, the Savior, for forgiveness of sins, is saved, given a new spiritual birth, and becomes born again.  All others will be lost forever.  Jesus explained the importance of this birth to Nicodemus.

“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)

Have you trusted Christ and become born again?
