THE LAST CALL

Have You Heard Your Last Call?

“Last call!  Flight 2017 departing gate 7.”  Have you ever heard announcements like this at an airport?  Last calls are important.  If you miss your flight’s last call it leaves without you.

God the Son, Jesus, has issued the most urgent last call of history.  This is amazing because, though He created all things, mankind rebelled against Him.  He could have said, “I’ll destroy them all.” Instead, He died and rose again to pay the penalty of sin for all who come to Him.  Scripture’s final words record this last call.

“I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.  And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.  For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:  And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.  He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” (Revelation 22:16˗21)

Do you really hear these words?  If so, it is God’s grace that has enabled your hearing.  Do you thirst for Him?  If so, it is God’s grace that is making your heart alive so that it can thirst.  Have you a will that urges you to come to Him?  If so, it is God’s grace that is replacing your fallen will with one that seeks Him.

However, most of humanity cannot hear.  Their fallen hearts take away the words of this prophecy by ignoring them.  Their dead spirits cannot thirst, and their fallen wills cannot follow the path of life.  Without God’s power, these will never heed Christ’s last call to come.

Is God’s last call drawing you?
