CHRISTIAN “NYCTOPHOBE” – ENEMY OF SOCIETY?

“Nyctophobe”:  Another Illogical Slur to Defame Christians?

Once upon a time there was an evil man named “Shiloof.”  He wanted to be king, or even God.  He began rallying people to discard God’s laws.  Campaigning to deny the existence of light, he practiced an insidious ritual with his followers.  They stared defiantly at the Sun while chanting “There is no light!  There is no light!”  Soon they were all blind, unable to see the Sun or its light.  His many followers became convinced that light doesn’t exist. They passed laws declaring darkness to be holy, and light evil.  Anyone who disagreed was mocked as a “nyctophobe,” banned from public office, and even executed.

Such rejection of truth was predicted many years ago.

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,  Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.  He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.  Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.  Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.” (Psalm 2:1-6)

Notice that though followers of Shiloof rage, and the people he leads imagine vain things, God still rules!  He will ultimately either change or crush those who arrogantly challenge His power and authority.

God the Son came to earth as the pure virgin-born “light of the world” (John 8:12).  He died to pay the penalty of sin for His redeemed ones, giving them His light.  However, all who reject His light shall suffer His wrath.

“And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;  And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:  For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? (Revelation 6:15-17).

Will you be called a “nyctophobe” because Christ has turned you from darkness to light?
