Have you ever heard of mailmen being bitten by vicious lambs? Old movies tell of people stalked and killed by mountain lions, wolves, and bears, but I’ve never heard of anyone attacked by a vicious lamb. Lambs are gentle creatures.

The Old Testament Scriptures describe innocent lambs which were slain to picture the ultimate Savior of sinners. Later, John the Baptist showed that Jesus Christ, who is God the Son, was the one they pictured. Speaking of Jesus he said: “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1:36).”

Most people feel comfortable considering the gentleness and love of Jesus who said, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls (Matthew 11:29).” In this statement, He urges that people ask Him to forgive their sins and find eternal rest for their troubled souls.

However, there is another aspect of Jesus, the Lamb of God, which most preachers never discuss. The period of God’s patience will end, and this lamb, who is the only source of salvation, will exercise judgment on those who have scorned His forgiveness. It will be a time when great fear shall fall upon men of all classes. Listen to Scripture’s description of this event. “…the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: (Revelation 6:15-16).”

The same often quoted scripture that says, “God so loved the world… (John 3:16),” also says, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (John 3:36).” “…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).”

Time is quickly passing. When judgment comes, will you be begging the rocks to hide you, or will you cry for Christ the lamb to save you, now, while there’s still time?
