Is anything too hard for God?

Jerusalem was under siege by the Babylonian army (Jeremiah 32). Because of sin, God used the Babylonians to overthrow them. However, even in the midst of His judgment, God promised to later restore Israel to their land. He illustrated this by sending Hanameel to his cousin Jeremiah, the prophet. God told Jeremiah that Hanameel wanted to sell him his field near Jerusalem!

This property was located in an area about to be overthrown by the invading army! However, God told Jeremiah to buy and establish legal title to it in order to show his faith in God’s promise to eventually restore Israel to their land.

Jeremiah’s response is significant.

“Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: …” (Jeremiah 32:17).

A few verses later God confirms this truth with the following rhetorical question.

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27).

I’ve often heard folks say things like, “God’s too busy to be bothered with my petty problems.” Such statements betray belief in a false god. The true God is so powerful that He’s never in danger of being overloaded.

Our family was reminded of this a number of years ago during a time of prayer with fellow believers. We had requested prayer for our son who was about to take the SAT exam. When asked “What score would you like us to pray for,” one of us replied, “1300.” For that score they prayed.

A few weeks later, when the scores were released, he had received a score of EXACTLY 1300!

God has often provided very specific answers to our prayers. Sadly, we’ve not always adequately described, to others, His wonderful answers. Our Savior God, Jesus Christ, came to earth and sacrificed His life-blood to pay the penalty for our sins. Then He rose from the dead! His great redemption victory more than demonstrates His omnipotent power to answer our prayers in a manner consistent with His will.

Have you searched the scriptures which can make you “…wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15)?

Even salvation is not too hard for God!
