LOVED BY THE KING

Are you loved as a child of the King?

I’m awed by the fact that God loved me even before He created the world. The apostle Paul rejoiced in this fact.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will …” (Ephesians 1:3-5).

Looking back over my life, I realize God has expressed His love to me many times in very specific ways.

First, He gave me parents who taught me His Word. Even in my pre-Kindergarten life He caused me to realize I was a sinner and prompted me to ask them about spiritual things. Once, while playing with a little toy truck, I looked up at my Mom and said, “Mommy: do you think I’ll go to Heaven when I die?” Not long after that, God stirred my young heart to cry out to Him in tears asking Him to save me from my sins.

As a young man, He gave me a believing wife who is still my dear sweetheart of almost 47 years. Many times we’ve prayed, together, for very specific things. Though we understand He’s not obligated to give us anything, He has often granted our prayers in specific ways far exceeding our requests. He has taught our hearts that we are children of the King!

In both large and small matters, He’s drawn close to us with His love. Often, after a long, unsuccessful search for some tiny object I’ve dropped in the grass, my wife will ask me, “Have you prayed?” Sheepishly, I’ve stopped and asked for His help. Usually He’s shown me the missing item within seconds.

God the Son, Jesus Christ, died at Calvary to save His people from their sins. He invites all, both young and old, who are burdened over sin, to come. But those who reject Him will be lost forever.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Has God’s love burdened your heart to ask Christ to save you?
