ADOPTION AND FAITH

God’s adopted children trust His love

Kathy and I have known parents that adopted children, originally born to other families.  One young mother, when in the early stages of this process, expressed a need and strong desire for more faith.

Adoption was initiated by God Himself.  The apostle Paul, wrote to Christians:

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,  To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved” (Ephesians 1:3-6).

Human adoption is an incredible picture of God’s redeeming grace.  Many adopted children come from natural families fraught with peril.  The adoptive family draws such a child into its own love, care, and safety.  That child becomes accepted with the same love showered upon natural children.

In the spiritual realm, all who are saved were originally born into the human family of sin and death from which they’ve been rescued by adoption and made alive (quickened).  Paul wrote:

“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; …” (Ephesians 2:1).

Adoption into God’s family requires faith in Christ which comes from God.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).

One of the deepest desires of adoptive parents, is for their adopted children to have faith in their love.  Their sacrificial actions seek to instill this faith.

Similarly, Christ’s sacrificial death and victorious resurrection instills faith in the hearts of God’s adopted children.  By Christ’s victory, as God the Son, the penalty of sin has been lovingly paid, for all who come to Him in repentance asking forgiveness.

Do you desire spiritual rescue from your original perilous family of sin and death?  Are you searching God’s Word, the Bible, for the faith needed to receive forgiveness and adoption into God’s family of love, and eternal life?

Has Christ’s love brought you to your knees in repentance and sorrow for sin, filling you with faith and desire to love and please Him forever?
