Does Christ know you? If so you’ll follow Him!

Does Christ know you? What a strange question! After all, Christ is God and God knows everything. Why would anyone even ask such a question?
It’s true that Christ is God and it’s also true that God is omniscient and knows everything. However, there is a special kind of knowledge, of which Christ speaks, that’s essential to salvation. It is God’s knowledge of one as His redeemed friend and close companion.
An intimate use of the word “know” occurs early in the book of Genesis.
“And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain …” (Genesis 4:1).
This knowledge was not Adam’s mere recognition of Eve as a person. Rather, it depicted an intimate relationship between them, which brought forth the life of their son, Cain. It is a picture of the life-giving relationship God has with those He will redeem.
God does not have such knowledge of every human being. Listen to what Jesus says, in the day of judgment, to those whom he sends away to a place prepared for the Devil and His angels.
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:21-23).
How horrible it would be to receive those words from the lips of Christ! Here, Jesus is not denying His omniscience. Rather, He is indicating, to those individuals, that He never knew them in an intimate life giving manner. However, of those who belong to Him, He says,
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand” (John 10:27‑28).
Christ, the Lamb of God, sacrificed His life blood for the sins of His people. He knows them, gives them life, and they follow Him.
Does Christ know you in this intimate life giving relationship? If so, you’ll follow Him! Do you?
