Imagine, with me, that it is now the year 1,235,711,131,719 AD. Memory of your previous physical life on earth is but a vapor, rapidly fading into the distant past. That life may have been characterized by poverty or wealth. You may have been sick or healthy. That all now seems irrelevant. Your eternal condition now dominates your memory, and it has only just begun.
However, one poignant memory from your past physical life still remains. You think about it, now, as you consider your present condition. That memory is the Savior. He was, and still is, God the Son, Jesus Christ. He sacrificed His blood in a brutal crucifixion to pay the penalty of redemption for His people. Those that came to Him in repentance, deeply aware of their sinfulness, were saved from the penalty of sin and, ultimately, from its presence. They were given eternal life, and are now joyful and blessed as children of God. Those that rejected Him were never relieved of their sinful condition. They are now, and forever shall remain, in a conscious and unchangeable existence, under the wrath of God.
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” (John 3:36).
Since it is now AD 1,235,711,131,719, all of your opportunities for making a different choice or obtaining a different destiny are forever gone.
Return with me now, to the present time. The Savior still calls to all that have come under conviction of sin and are heavily burdened by it. Their awareness of sin’s burden is a miraculous work of the Holy Spirit within their dead heart. Christ, Himself, the Savior of sinners, calls out with the following wonderful invitation.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
But beware! Your brief life of opportunity is very short, for Christ warns us:
“… behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation …” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
Reader! Please read and heed God’s Word, the Bible, because,
“… faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).
