HAVE YOU MADE PEACE WITH GOD?

Have you made peace with God? If so, you’re in deep trouble. Only God can make peace with man. If you’re trusting your own, self-generated, righteous faith, to make peace with God, you’re not really trusting God’s righteous work. There is nothing man can do to make peace with God. As an unsaved sinner, all a man has, which he deems righteous, is filthy. This includes any faith he could possibly generate before God breathes true faith and life into his dead heart.

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; …” (Isaiah 64:6 See also Romans 8:1-8).

God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, offered His life blood as a sacrificial payment for the sins of His people. There’s nothing you or I can add to that. Christ is the only peacemaker who can mediate between God and men.

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” (1 Timothy 2:5).

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Christ is the author of any true faith which you or I have obtained. Peter’s salutation to Christians who had obtained faith, clearly identifies Christ as the righteous source of that faith.

“Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:” (2 Peter 1:1 see also Hebrews 12:2).

Any choice we make for Christ is a response to His sovereign choice of us.

“For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy” (Romans 9:15-16 see also John 1:12-13 & John 15:16-19).

God initiates the choosing. Those He chooses respond by choosing Him.

“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37).

Has God made peace with you by implanting true faith and life in your heart, or are you trusting a carnal faith which you have generated yourself?
