COW CRAVINGS

I occasionally ponder the thoughts of my cows. None of them has ever shown any interest in knowing about the God who created them. Their main focus seems to be eating. They are, in fact, incredible eating machines and, as I watch them, it appears that consuming grass is their greatest desire.

Though man’s desires are somewhat more complex than those of my cows, men pour their lives into fulfilling their desires just as intensely as my cows eat grass. Even in his thoughts of God, man tends to focus more on acquiring His help to fulfill desires than on loving, pleasing, and worshipping Him. Most men treat God like a wish-granting genie. This is because of man’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden. Man died in his spirit and became unable to fellowship with God as he was originally designed to do. His mind became carnal and dedicated to the flesh. God’s Word says, “they that are in the flesh cannot please God” (Romans 8:8).

Only God, Himself, can elevate us above our fallen state by raising our dead spirit to life. If this does not happen, a man will never want God for anything other than to serve his own fleshy desires.

Has God ever given you a desire to know Him and truly love Him? Has He ever touched your heart with His own love? If so, pursue Him. Thank Him for this great gift to you. Most of all, know that the culmination of this will be your own repentance and desire to follow, obey, and serve Him. You cannot be saved unless you call upon Christ to save you. You must believe He is God and that He died on the cross of Calvary to “save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). Cry out to Him to save you. If you do, He makes the following promises: “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37). “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). Is He drawing you to come to Him?
