NO ONE DESERVES GRACE

GRACE IS GOD’S PREROGATIVE

“What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:  There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.  They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Romans 3:9-12)

When Adam and Eve sinned, they plunged themselves, and all descendents, into eternal spiritual death.  Physical death followed shortly thereafter.  We are incapable of delivering ourselves from death.  Unless God changes our hearts, we constantly seek to please ourselves rather than God.  Many think only the most vile, wicked people shall endure God’s eternal punishment.  However, they ignore the fact that we were all born into this category of vile wickedness.  Unless God’s Holy Spirit changes us, we’ll remain vilely wicked until physical death ushers us into eternity.  Jesus said that “few” enter the path of life.

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)

Many enter eternity unprepared.  Our lives pass quickly.  When I was young, folks told me, “You have your whole life before you.”  Now, as I live in my eighth decade, I realize that this “whole life” has been incredibly short!  In fact, many of you will not make it this far.  Very soon we’ll all be experiencing our eternal existence.  Those who know and love Jesus Christ, as God their Savior, shall soon experience eternal bliss with Him.   However, most shall never enter this narrow path to eternal life.  Instead, they’ll soon be experiencing unending horror.  Jesus said,

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”  (John 3:36)

Some believe that physical death terminates a person’s conscious existence.  Those who continue believing this are in for a horrible, rude awakening.  God the Son shall sentence them as follows.

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” (Matthew 25:41)

Jesus made it clear that salvation is God’s prerogative.  He said,

“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; …” (John 6:37a)

Can you know whether the Father has given you to Jesus Christ?  Yes!  Immediately following the above statement, Jesus promised:

“…and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37b)

 Have you come?
